Getting married is one of the most important decisions of your life. It marks the start of your new life together, and is a time filled with celebration, happiness, and heartfelt wishes for a wonderful future.

This big decision that goes beyond making a lifelong commitment. At the moment you say, “I do,” your relationship will gain a legal status, and you will receive rights and benefits―both legal and practical―that are not generally
afforded to unmarried couples. Some financial benefits include:

■  Estate planning and inheritance benefits.

■  The ability to receive Social Security, Medicare, and disability benefits for your spouse.

■  The right to make medical decisions if your spouse is unable.

■  Tax benefits, when you file jointly.
You can be married at your home, on a beach or golf course, or just about anyplace you choose. You will need a marriage license issued by a Florida county clerk of the court (generally your home county). A couple can be married immediately after the license is issued if the spouses have taken a four-hour premarital course. There is no other waiting period for those who have taken the course. The courses are given in person and online, and can be completed in one day. Search online: Florida premarital course.
Tom Hartnett will be pleased to officiate at weddings for any couple in Southwest Florida: Port Charlotte, North Port, Punta Gorda, Venice and Englewood.

Vows and Readings for All
BEACH WEDDING - INTRODUCTION
As we stand witness beside the ocean tide, may your love always be as constant and unchanging as these never ending waves, floating endlessly from the depths of the sea touching softly upon the sands, as did your love come softly upon your hearts.
While these waters nourish the earth and sustain life, so may you never have a day without love for each other, love that will nourish and sustain you until the end of time.

TRADITIONAL VOWS
I, (Bride/Groom), take you (Groom/Bride), to be my (wife/husband), for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; to have and to hold, from this day forward, as long as we both shall live.

RING EXCHANGE

(Bride and Groom) you have chosen to exchange rings as the sign and seal of the promises you are making today. The ring is an ancient symbol of such vows, as the circle is considered to be the most perfect form of all forms in nature. As one unbroken circle, your ring symbolizes your unending love and commitment to each other.

(Groom) as you place this ring on (Bride’s) finger, please repeat after me:

(Bride), I give you this ring, as a symbol of our marriage, for today and tomorrow, and for all the days to come. Wear this ring as a sign of my love, and as a constant reminder, of the promises we exchange today.

(Bride), as you place this ring on (Groom's) finger, please repeat after me:

(Groom), I give you this ring, as a symbol of our marriage, for today and tomorrow, and for all the days to come. Wear this ring as a sign of my love, and as a constant reminder, of the promises we exchange today.

(Bride) I, (Name), take you (Name), to be my wedded husband. To have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, 'till death do us part. And hereto I pledge you my faithfulness.

(Groom) (Name), I give you this ring; wear it with love and joy. I choose you to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward for better or for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish as long as we both shall live.

(Bride) (Name), I give you this ring; wear it with love and joy. I choose you to be my husband: to have and to hold, from this day forward. For better, for worse, for richer for poorer; in sickness and in health; to have and to cherish, as long as we both shall live. And hereto, I pledge you my faithfulness to show to you the same kind of love as Christ showed the Church when He died for her, and to love you as a part of myself because in His sight we shall be one.

(Name), I take you to be my partner; to have and to hold, from this day forward. I give to you my unending love and devotion. I promise to be true to you, to cherish you, and to share my thoughts, hopes, and dreams with you. I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you, my best friend. I will love you forever.

On this special day, (Name), I give to you, in the presence of [God and] all these witnesses, my promise to stay by your side, in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, as well as through the good times and the bad.
